Job Description:
We're seeking a Site-Based Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist with 2-3 years of experience to support and manage ground investigations for large-scale energy infrastructure projects spanning remote areas of Scotland and the North of England. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for ensuring the completion and compliance of Health & Safety documentation, client and subcontractor liaison onsite, and project management reporting to our office-based Project Manager. You'll supervise site works, including various drilling techniques, sampling and in-situ testing, and undertake gas and groundwater monitoring. Producing project deliverables and maintaining timely records are crucial aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring completion and compliance with H&S documentation (RAMS, Permits, etc).
  • Client and subcontractor liaison onsite.
  • Project Management onsite ensuring compliance with the clients specification and relevant British Standards and industry guidance.
  • Supervision of site works, including dynamic sampling, rotary coring, cable percussive drilling, trial pitting and in-situ testing and sampling.
  • Gas and Groundwater monitoring and sampling from monitoring installations.
  • Producing accurate project deliverables (exploratory hole logs, schedules, site records and chain of custodies) and ensuing they are turned around in a timely manner.
  • Supporting administration of the contract, raising potential notifiable events (Early Warning or Compensation) in an appropriate timeframe to the CGL PM.

Skills and Experience:

  • Suitable qualification/experience in Geoscience, Engineering or Geo-Environmental/Geotechnical related discipline.
  • Valid First Aid, CSCS card, SSSTS and/or IOSH Safe Supervision of Geotechnical sites (preferable but not essential).
  • 2 to 3 years’ experience with Geotechnical/Environmental supervision would be advantageous.
  • Ability to problem-solve in the field and communicate effectively with the team.
  • Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities.

Requirements:

  • BSc in Geology, Geoscience, Engineering or Geo-Environmental/Geotechnical related discipline.
  • MSc in Geology, Geoscience, Engineering or Geo-Environmental/Geotechnical related discipline (preferable but not essential).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
