There was a great turnout from developers and consultancies at our chalk briefing on Thursday. CGL’s David Giles gave a presentation aimed at local developers on the risks associated with sites developed on chalk and how CGL’s expertise can help mitigate risk at the pre-planning stages and beyond.
Chalk is often misunderstood as being relatively unproblematic, but it can vary considerably in its geotechnical properties and have both natural and anthropogenic hazards associated with this lithology. Phased and innovative site investigation can help build up a ground model of potential hazards at a development site as well as mitigating large upfront costs for ground investigations.
